BLOOD FLAGS

We’ve started to see some countries around the world stand up for LGBTQ+ rights. Where some saw progress, we noticed a global trend: countries supported gay marriage, but not Blood Equality. Some stood up to protect equality in housing, schooling, and employment. Yet those same countries still denied gay and bi men from donating blood. Turned away at the door, denied their right to donate.

BLOOD FLAGS was created to call out this disparity. We worked with seamstresses to painstakingly “update” flags from around the world, stitching together the LGBTQ+ Rainbow Flag with those from Australia, the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Germany. Leaving frayed, exposed threads to tell the whole story: to truly stand up for the gay community, you must support Blood Equality.
